Title
A low input power charge pump for passive UHF RFID applications
Abstract
A novel charge pump with good performance in low-voltage is presented and implemented in UMC 0.18 um process that operates at UHF band of 860MHz to 960MHz. It uses auxiliary charge transfer switches (CTS's) and PMOS charge pump to generate bias voltage for the main charge pump to compensate for the threshold voltage (V <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">th</inf> ). The main charge pump is the Dickson rectifiers to double the input voltage. It has been used in an UHF RFID tag to generate supply voltage and occupies the chip area of 250um∗190um. The measurement result shows sensitivity of −10dBm for dc output voltage of 1.1V.
