Title
Annealing Effcts on Luminescence Efficiency of Crystal Scintillation Optical Fiber for Radiotherapy
Abstract
A glass-cladding crystal scintillation optical fibers (GCSFs) was fabricated using the modified rod-in-tube (M-RID) method. GCSF samples were placed in a high temperature furnace and then annealed from 500 to 1300 °C in air atmosphere. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra and Raman spectra of samples were measured. The inter-diffusion of Ce 3 + between crystal core and SiO 2 glass cladding is investigated by Raman spectrometer. A wide PL band of fiber samples at 960 cm -1 in GCSF by annealing from 700 to 1100 °C is observed showing distinct response with laser excitation at 532, 633 785 nm laser respectively. The luminescence properties of GCSF indicate promising potential applications in remote radiative environment monitoring and in radiotherapy.
