Simulation Analysis of Fiber Optic Magnetic Sensor
Abstract
This paper presents a fiber optic sensor for the measurement of magnetic field. The sensor is based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and Terfenol-D material. We use simulation software Ansys and Comsol Multiphysics to verify the feasibility of this sensing system. The simulation process is demonstrated. The performance of solenoid coil and Terfenol-D rod is simulated by Ansys. The simulation results of the strain distribution of the Terfenol-D material, the BH curve of the Terfenol-D material, the magnetic flux density distribution of the sensor and the relationship between pre-stress and the strain of the Terfenol-D are given by Comsol. The results show that this sensor has good linearity and can be used in magnetic field measurement.
