With the advent of the IoT, semantic is a potential candidate to enhance the interoperability between heterogeneous devices and applications in smart homes. Additionally, many Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) solutions are being proposed to deal with the population ageing makes the support of semantic for smart homes becomes even more important. This paper proposes a semantic service gateway for the ECHONET Lite, a leading protocol for smart homes in Japan to integrate with the universAAL, a semantic supported AAL platform in Europe. The proposed service gateway was implemented and the feasibility is verified by testing with not only simulator, but also with commercial devices. |
