This paper presents a novel demodulation method that performs quadrature duo-binary/quaternary/octernary spectrum shaping and MLSE for mitigating spectrum narrowing caused by traversing multiple optical nodes. The maximum hop count and transmission distance in ultra-dense WDM networks are substantially extended. |
