Title
Dual-Input Power System Stabilizer Design Via Jaya Algorithm
Abstract
Excitation system of the synchronous machine is routinely equipped with Power System Stabilizer (PSS) in order to damp electromechanical oscillations. In this paper, a dual-input Power System Stabilizer (DIPSS) is used to enhance power system stability. The problem of DIPSS design is a harsh and time-consuming task and as alternative for tuning controllers is the use of optimization methods. JAYA algorithm is introduced for optimal DIPSS design in a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system. The DIPSS parameter selection challenge is stated as an optimization problem which is solved by JAYA Algorithm. The objective function consists of an Integral of time multiplied Absolute Error (ITAE) involving the speed deviation is considered for the DIPSS design method. The performance of the proposed JAYA based DIPSS (JAYADIPSS) has been compared with Particle swarm optimization (PSO) based DIPSS (PSODIPSS) under nominal conditions. The results of the developed JAYADIPSS are carried out through time domain analysis. It is clear that the performance of the proposed JAYADIPSS outperforms that of PSODIPSS.
