Title
Measuring Janus temperature in ICE-land
Abstract
This paper discusses some of the challenges we faced when assessing the scalability of the Janus open source WebRTC media server. In particular, after introducing some of the scalability strategies we identified for different media scenarios, we analyze the efforts we devoted to identifying some key issues with respect to the performance of individual Janus instances, with special focus on interactive connectivity establishment. The final aim of the work is to better understand how the mentioned issues can have an impact on how to properly dimension and provision large scale deployments involving multiple media servers. Some experimental results are provided to support our findings, which lead to final remarks on the next steps.
