•Blockchain may offer useful traceability applications in a number of industries, as the case of aircraft.•The aircraft industry is witnessing a radical change in terms of production techniques, mainly represented by the use of additive manufacturing (AM) solutions.•This paper investigates how an aircraft company builds a digital twin along a metal AM process thanks to the exploitation of Blockchain solution.•The paper offers an answer to explain how companies can use Blockchain to create a secure and interconnected AM infrastructure. |
