•Methodology for the generation of annotated 4D ASL MRA virtual phantoms, with geometric and blood flow ground-truth data.•The phantoms can be used as ground-truth for developing and evaluating new image processing methods for 4D ASL MRA.•In this work, the phantoms are used for image acquisition optimization, by evaluating different scenarios with different acquisition parameter settings. |
