Title
A survey on visible light positioning from the hardware perspective
Abstract
The prevalence of illumination equipment and inherent advantages of visible light communication (VLC) technique have resulted in a growing interest in VLC based positioning. Although abundant techniques of VLC based positioning have been proposed over the past several years, there exist not many relevant overview works. This paper provides an intensive overview of visible light positioning systems based on a novel-innovative classification. Massive papers including pioneering papers and the state-of-the-art ones in related areas were gathered and categorized according to the kinds of transmitters. These papers also have been evaluated in terms of accuracy, cost, range and complexity. Furthermore, current open issues and tendency regarding visible light positioning are also illustrated.
