Automatic psoriasis assessment methods: current scenario and perspectives from a metrologic point of view |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
The assessment of the psoriasis severity in a quantitative way is essential to address the therapy choice as well as to monitor its effectiveness over time. The Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) is currently the most used parameter to assess severity and to define treatment response, however it presents some limitations as, for example, the subjective nature of its assessment relying on a visual examination. The paper presents an overview of the limitations on psoriasis assessment by means of electronic instrumentation and the solutions proposed by research, in these last years. |
