Title
Research on the Pressure drop Characteristics of Spiral flow in Horizontal Straight Pipe
Abstract
This paper presents an experimental and theoretical study on pressure drop of water inside a 50mm ID tube containing spiral vanes inserts. The experimental results were obtained in a horizontal test section for liquid volume flowrate ranging from 0.7 to 8 m3/h at 28°C and 1 atm. The influence of liquid Reynolds number and spiral decay phenomenon on pressure drop of spiral flow was discussed. The theoretical model of friction coefficient of the spiral flow and spiral decay formula was modified by the experimental data. Ultimately, the calculation model for pressure drop of spiral flow was proposed, the relative error within -5%~3% and the standard deviation is 0.0187kpa.
