Title
Control Signaling in Wireless Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles through Ultra-Wideband
Abstract
This paper examines the extension and use of ultra-wideband communication for information exchange during wireless charging of electric vehicles. We utilize ultra-wideband technology, which is widely used for positioning in indoor localization and robotic applications. The main functionalities of the ultra-wideband modules are extended to allow for communicating the necessary information of a wireless charging process. The data exchange protocol is defined leaning on the definitions of the IEC 61851-24 and ISO 15118 standards for conductive charging systems and vehicle to grid communication interface for bidirectional wireless power transfer, respectively. Furthermore, a practical implementation of the prototype is achieved using state-of-the-art hardware.
