Spatial Modulation (SM) is an effective modulation scheme by adopting a simple coding mechanism. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) applied in SM can improve the system performance in frequency selective fading. However, multiple radio frequency (RF) chains used in SM-OFDM system are required equal to the number of transmitting antennas, which greatly increases the energy loss of the system. In this paper, a carrier selection method based on single RF chain SM-OFDM systems is proposed, a carrier grouping method for carrier selection and precoding are considered to reduce system complexity. Compared with the conventional SM-OFDM system, only single RF chain is used which avoids the inter-antennas interference and improves the energy efficiency. Moreover, the computational complexity of the system is greatly reduced. The simulation results show significant performance gains of the system. |
