•Four replacement policies based on a one-cycle criterion for a system are discussed.•The expected cost rate function in one-cycle is derived for each replacement policy.•A computational algorithm for determining four optimal replacement policies is presented.•Some numerical examples are provided to fit our research.•Expected cost rate function in one-cycle criterion and infinite horizon are compared. |
