From Bricks To An Edifice: Cultivating Strong Inference In Information Systems Research |
Abstract | ||

Disciplines that progress faster have a discipline-wide culture of strong inference. Notwithstanding our strong tradition of empirical cumulation, we argue how practicing strong inference can also cultivate greater theoretical cumulation in management information systems studies. We develop and illustrate two philosophy-of-science ideas-nomological rubberbanding and retroduction-to foster it. |
