The Internet of Things (IoT) communications technologies are meant to connect heterogeneous devices to offer explicit smart services. The goal of this paper is to offer a comprehensive study of the recent wireless technologies/protocols employed for IoT. The study focuses on the low power wireless technologies and long range communication for IoT applications. This paper offers a comparison between different wireless communications in terms of their architecture, features (range, data rate, security, etc.), protocol structure, and security. The approach of the study is based on the range of connectivity, it also highlights the challenges of each technology. The candidate protocols are classified for their aptness in echo-system applications. |
