Title
Inclusion of Abnormal Operation in Modeling of LCC-HVDC Systems Using Dynamic Phasors
Abstract
This paper aims to derive the dynamic phasors model of a line commutated converter operating during commutation failures. It is important to properly model an LCC during commutation failures in order to properly investigate the dynamic behaviours of the system during severe faults causing this phenomenon. The developed dynamic-phasor model is verified against an EMT model of the CIGRE HVDC Benchmark. Simulation results confirm the validity and accuracy of the model in predicting both steady-state and dynamic response of the system.
