•We study the order acceptance and scheduling with sequence-dependent setup times.•We propose a memetic algorithm, called Sparrow, which hybridizes BRKGA and ALNS.•Compared with state-of-the-art algorithms, Sparrow obtains better-quality solutions.•Multiple algorithms are compared on a new benchmark with more realistic properties. |
