•A seepage model was integrated with an automatic control system (ACS) to simulate losses.•The ACS reduced operational and seepage losses up to 9% and 7%, respectively.•Adopting inline storage as an operational strategy was key in achieving delivery adequacy.•The integrated approach can be used by managers to evaluate different management scenarios. |
