Title
Variable Active Pre-coding Aided Spatial Modulation.
Abstract
Recently, pre-coding aided spatial modulation (PSM) has attracted substantial research interests, which is considered as one of the promising transmission schemes in 5G massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems. In this paper, we propose a novel variable active pre-coding aided spatial modulation (VAPSM) system, which is a specific type of PSM systems. In comparison to PSM, VAPSM needs less number of receive antennas (RAs) to achieve the same spectral efficiency, which provides a further low complexity receiver. Instead of the specific RA configuration in PSM where the number of RAs is a power of two, the number of RAs of VAPSM is arbitrary, which is more flexible and simpler. Moreover, we derive the upper bound of the average bit error rate (ABER) in the proposed VAPSM system. Simulation results confirm the derived theoretical upper bound and demonstrate that the proposed VAPSM provides significant performance improvement compared to the conventional PSM with the same number of RAs.
