•Concept of hybrid uncertainty - ‘random type-2 fuzzy’ is illustrated through a FC4D-TP.•Type-2 triangular and Gaussian fuzzy parameters are made crisp by CVbased reduction.•Type-2 zigzag parameter is reduced to crisp one by expected value based reduction.•A practical demonstration of the nature of random type-2 uncertainty in TP is given.•Importance of route choice in transporting breakable units in FC4D-TP is laid down. |
