Abstract
•The end of deformation phase was the most dangerous position during impact.•With the increase of drop height, maximum contact area increased and contact time decreased.•There was a power relationship between impact energy and compressed depth.•There was a linear relationship between compressed volume and damage degree.•Litchi cultivar have influence on damage degree and damage susceptibility.
