Abstract | ||

•A new nested polarization sensitive array (PSA) composed of augmented and optimally nested subarrays is proposed for a large aperture. There is a systematic procedure to determine the numbers of antennas in the two subarrays in order to obtain similar apertures for the two subarrays.•A method for direction of arrival and Stokes parameters estimation is proposed for both completely and partially polarized signals based on the proposed nested PSA.•The proposed estimation method can fill the holes in the difference co-arrays of the proposed nested PSA, to improve parameter estimation performance efficiently.•The proposed estimation method can provide good performance in the presence of unknown nonuniform noise and without knowledge of source number. |
