Abstract
•Ignoring negations in texts can lead to wrong outcomes during sentiment analysis.•State-of-the-art negation handling requires costly labels, thus limiting its use.•We propose a novel negation scope detection based on reinforcement learning.•It replicates human text processing and is thus highly interpretable.•Numerical experiments further demonstrate its effectiveness.
