In this paper, we tackle the long-standing problem of ensemble control design and analysis with a geometric approach in a Hilbert space setting. Specifically, we formulate the control of linear ensemble systems as a convex feasibility problem that can be solved using the techniques of iterative weighted projections. Such a non-trivial geometric interpretation enables a systematic design procedure for constructing feasible and optimal ensemble control signals, and, further, enables the implementation of numerical schemes to examine ensemble reachability. We conduct numerical experiments to validate the theoretical developments and demonstrate the robustness of the iterative projection methods. |
