This paper proposes a postcontingency remedial action scheme for power grids. A corrective action algorithm (CAA) is developed to eliminate postcontingency constraint violations so that further propagation of the contingency and possible blackouts is prevented. Since corrective actions should be determined quickly, a piecewise linear approximation for the nonlinear power flow equations considering unified power flow controller and wind farm grid codes is proposed. The proposed piecewise linear approximation-based method does not ignore the effect of reactive power flows in the network unlike classical dc approximation. The simulation results on various test systems demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed CAA. |
