Soliton communication, already widely studied some decades ago, got revitalized in the recent years due to the growing interest in nonlinear Fourier transform based systems. In soliton communication systems only the discrete nonlinear Fourier spectrum of a pulse is used for data transmission. Since the influence of time-domain additive white noise and fiber loss on the nonlinear spectra is not yet fully understood, labeling strategies used in state-of-the-art systems might not be optimal. In this thesis, some approaches to symbol labeling for eigenvalue on-off keying are studied and compared by their resulting bit error rates. |
