Video data plays an important role in ship safety monitoring. However, the traditional maritime communication systems cannot meet the requirements of the video data transmission. Wireless Ad Hoc networks are considered as an important component of the heterogeneous maritime communication networks, and can provide a feasible solution to support broadband data transmission over the sea. This paper proposes a design of video transmission software for ship safety monitoring based on a maritime broadband wireless Ad Hoc network system. The hardware and protocol stack structures of the maritime broadband wireless Ad Hoc network system are introduced. Furthermore, the design principle and implementation method of the video transmission software are presented. The experiment results show that the implemented software can support multi-hop video transmission over the maritime Ad Hoc network. |
