•The optimal estimator for CPSs under unobservable deception cyber-attacks is provided, which consists of an exponentially increasing number of terms.•A suboptimal estimator, which is computationally more efficient, is proposed based on IMM algorithm.•The optimal estimator and the suboptimal estimator are proven to be stable in the mean square sense. |
