Title
LPE-RCM - Lightweight Privacy-Preserving Edge-Based Road Condition Monitoring for VANETs.
Abstract
Road conditions are the main factor affecting traffic safety, so it is necessary to monitor road conditions. In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), the trusted authority (TA) is allowed to monitor road conditions with the help of the vehicle on the road. However, the TA may receive too much road condition information since the same road condition has not been filtered out. In this paper, we propose a lightweight privacy-preserving edge-based road condition monitoring (LPE-RCM) scheme. To reduce the burden of the TA, we use edge nodes to filter out redundant road conditions. Besides, to encourage the vehicle to report road conditions actively, we adopt a privacy-aware reputation mechanism. Finally, the security proof and analysis show that LPE-RCM satisfies the security requirements of VANETs. The experimental results show that LPE-RCM is acceptable.
