This research report deals with the simulation of a permanent magnet DC motor operating on continuous power generated from solar energy. The simulations results were generated using different controllers and H- Bridge Buck-Boost converter by varying the parameters of irradiance and temperature. The MOSFET of the H-Bridge converter deals with inductive back EMF. The inductive spikes drive back power into the battery, causing the current to fall rapidly since back EMF is proportional to supply voltage. Each subsystem was modeled in order to simulate the whole system. The main focus was to keep the system robust, minimize the loss and provide smooth operation of DC Motor. Overall, the system is simple, reliable and cost effective. It was observed that with a step change in input parameters, the PID controller enabled better performance compared to the PI controller. |
