Title
A Novel Analytical Model of the Benefit of Partial Digital Pre-Emphasis in Coherent Optical Transponders
Abstract
A novel analytical model capable of precisely estimating the performance benefit of employing partial digital pre-emphasis in coherent optical transponders is presented. It accounts for component bandwidth limitations, DAC/ADC quantization noise, driver noise, optical link OSNR and DSP equalization. Its accuracy is verified experimentally.
