Title
Microelectronics Education Environment: A Training Model For The Semiconductors Market
Abstract
This work presents the set of aspects and results from the implementation experience of a training environment model for education in microelectronics focused on the marked needs. Proposed for promoting the reduction of the gap between the conventional background obtained at undergraduate level and the design skills effectively required in the industry, the training is organized in two phases for conceptual and design-based activities and, from this implementation paradigm, a correlation between theoretical and practical concepts is established considering the Electronic Design Automation (EDA)-based design flow. From the demands of the semiconductors market in a real design environment emulation, a final project is proposed with multiple modules for development and final integration by applying Cadence Design Systems platform. Considering the first seven editions of the training program, statistical data indicate that an average percentage of 78% over the total number of certified designers remains with professional activities in the semiconductors sector.
