Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks have been around as early as the late Nineteen Ninetees and are a growing practice in the computing world. As the computing power of technologies increase and the availability of these technologies goes widespread to the everyday user, securing against these types of attacks should become a number one priority in the field. DDoS attacks aim to disrupt the availability of a service, leaving both the user and provider helpless until a mitigation or solution is put in place. This paper will cover a brief history of infamous DDoS attacks, how these attacks continue to grow with technology, and different techniques being used to try and prevent or mitigate the effectiveness of DDoSing. |
