Is talker variability a critical component of effective phonetic training for nonnative speech? |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
•Adaptive exaggeration and audiovisual input were integrated in L2 speech training.•Significant improvement and generalization were observed in the pre-post tests.•Training induced changes of cue weighting in both perception and production.•Talker variability did not provide additional benefits in this integrated approach.•Talker variability showed benefits when the integrated features were removed. |
