Abstract
•The method models wave propagation in a multi-layered waveguide with inhomogeneities.•The proposed method is an extension of the boundary integral equation method.•The novel matrix method is proposed for multi-layered structures.•High efficiency and low computational costs for the advanced method are shown.•The method is applicable for parametric analysis of wave phenomena.
