Title
An Explanatory Model as Basis for the Introduction of Systems Engineering and capable IT-Infrastructures in Industry
Abstract
The introduction of Systems Engineering (SE) is challenging companies of all industries. Barriers lie in generic as well as specific aspects of the SE introduction, e.g. IT architecture definition, and the alignment between them. We analyze those barriers for both contexts and suggest the development of an explanatory model as basis for the introduction of SE. Furthermore, we describe requirements towards such a model and provide a holistic explanatory model as well as an extended model for IT architecture analysis and definition. Thus, we lay the foundation for more holistic SE introduction support with integrated detailed approaches for specific aspects, as well as the systematic implementation and customization of meta-models, to enhance their understandability and applicability. Subsequently, we discuss the possible future applications of the model.
