To facilitate the pervasive adoption of the internet-of-things (IoT) communication technology, and to enable system developers to shape innovative services, full integration of complex systems is inevitable. The most common IoT-based applications operate in the sub-6 GHz unlicensed band. To integrate multiple functionalities into one system, a single broadband antenna covering most of the frequency bands is extremely important from the viewpoint of the space factor. In this paper, a planar circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented for the IoT integrated systems. The proposed design is based on the coplanar waveguide single-point feeding and a wide-slot. To cater to the need for high performance, polarization diversity is utilized. The antenna features a wide axial ratio bandwidth from 2.5 GHz to 6 GHz. Moreover, the antenna retains an almost flat gain of 4 dBic in the entire operating bandwidth. Its planar geometry makes it easy to integrate, whereas the wide CP bandwidth allows for accommodating multiple short-range communication systems. |
