Title
Modes of cognition: Evidence from metastable brain dynamics
Abstract
•Deep autoencoder dynamical analysis (DADA) identified metastable brain substates.•More connected substates are found during tasks compared to rest.•Higher entropy was found for resting brain dynamics compare to task.•The results support on-line and off-line as two distinct modes of cognition.•DADA provides a potential bridge between neuroscience and cognitive theory.
