Title
Design and deployment of K-12 Educational Robotics Activities in Tunisia Public Primary Schools.
Abstract
This paper is a tentative report of feed-backs and learning's of an educational robotics program deployed in Tunisia public schools with alignment to local educational objectives of technologies in primary education. The paper describes the program implementations main steps covering alignment with local educational system policies and regulations, the educator's trainings, the organization of the learner's activities and their assessments based on a project based methodology. The program is a partnership between a local IEEE educational project, the Robotics for equality & democracy, which is humanitarian IEEE initiative and the academic inspection for primary education of Dar Chaabane II, Nabeul, Tunisia republic. The IEEE STEM portal and the Try-Engineering lesson plans were the main resources used to build the teaching/trainings materials. Trained educators deployed educational robotics activities with their pupils, and then engaged them in a project building dynamic leading to a competition and demonstrations in a public event called "Nawadina", our clubs. The program used to be developed as an extra-curricular clubs where 57 pupils were enrolled over six schools, a club in each one managed by a local educator. Pre-interviews and a post-interview were arranged to measure how children perceived the robotics activities and eventually how those activities influenced their perception of STEM and engineering.
