Title
High-speed Signal Transmission Using Low-resolution DAC with Jitter-aware Noise Shaping Technique
Abstract
In this paper, an improved noise shaping (NS) technique with high jitter noise tolerance is firstly proposed without additional computational complexity. The effectiveness of the jitter-aware NS (JA-NS) technique is numerically investigated in high-speed discrete multi-tone (DMT) systems with DACs in various resolutions. Simulation results indicate that for 25 GHz 64 QAM-DMT signal generated by a 6-bit DAC, the utilization of JA-NS can bring 1.7 dB received optical power (ROP) improvement at the hard-decision forward error correction (HD-FEC) threshold compared with the traditional NS technique at the time jitter of 4 % DAC sampling time, which is typical for commercially available DACs.
