Handheld Tools that "Informate" Assessment of Student Learning in Science: A Requirements Analysis |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
An important challenge faced by many teachers as theyinvolve students in science investigations is measuring("assessing") students' progress. Our detailedrequirements analysis in a particular school districtled to the idea that teachers need ways to improve theinformation they have about what students know andcan do, not automation of typical assessment practices.We see handhelds as a promising for addressing thisneed because they can give students and teachersfrequent, integral access to new ways of expressingand communicating what they know and can do. |
