Title
A real-time interactive distance education system for a broadband internet environment
Abstract
This paper introduces a system for a live, interactive web-casting with presentation material synchronisation and sharing. The system consists of a small-delay, interactive video/audio streaming server, a presentation synchronisation/sharing server and an integration web server. The system is designed for the real, synchronous distance-class delivery of the Hosei University California State University, Hayward joint pre-MBA programme. The system only requires that lecturers and students have access to the internet with a standard browser for participating in the real-time interactive learning environment. It provides much more flexibility for conducting synchronous distance education compared with a conventional H.323 video-conferencing system.
