This paper presents the findings of preliminary study on haptic approach in learning Jawi handwriting skills in the Malaysian educational setting. This paper explores current problems, teaching and learning methods used, frequent mistakes done by pupils, and related issues in learning Jawi handwriting skills. The results show that the current approach is too reliant on skills and presence of teachers in the learning and assessment process. The visual haptic approach can be considered as having a very promising potential to aid primary school pupils in teaching and learning Jawi handwriting skills. The results provide important input for future works on Haptik-Visual Jawi (HV-Jawi) application design and development. |
