The paper deals with the discrete event simulation of a modular assembly plant for automotive derivation boxes. A simulation package has been developed in object- oriented language in order to consider the new requirements of industrial automation: reconfigurability, flexibility, adaptivity on strategic horizons, evolving customers' demands. These needs can be satisfied by means of intelligent, flexible plants and adaptive management. The example case is analysed, considering different layouts and dispatching schedules. |
