Title
Improving The Simulation Process In Model-Based Codesign With Remote Execution With Load Observation And Distribution (Reload)
Abstract
Parallel execution of independent simulation programs is one method of speeding-up discrete-event simulation modeling in the development process for complex systems. Existing cluster-based computing systems largely use First Come, First Served (FCFS) distribution of programs. Remote Execution with Load Observation And Distribution (RELOAD) is a new method of distributing independent programs to a cluster of PC's and using explicit reporting of program execution progress to make estimates of completion times. The estimated completion times are used by rite RELOAD scheduling algorithm to minimize response times (MinResp) of short execution-time programs during the simulation model development phase and maximize CPU cycle usage (Max-Cycle) during the production phase. Accurate predictions will allow for significant performance gains over FCFS distribution of simulation programs.
