Abstract | ||

The status of the AVS ( Audio Video Coding Standard) is firstly introduced in brief. Then the technical features and the flow of motion estimation ( ME) algorithm in AVS are analysed in detail. The new product of TI,TMS320DM6446 multimedia processor,is chosen to be the kernel of the hardware platform for implementing AVS encoder. For the shortages in original algorithm,the improvement and optimisation are made on its integer-pixel and sub-pixel motion estimation algorithm. A new fast motion estimation algorithm is proposed. Experimental results indicate that this method can significantly reduce the computation complexity of motion estimation and coding time while basically maintains the performance. |
