Shared Virtual Memory (SVM) systems are organizations of Distributed Shared Memory systems (DSM). These systems offer a shared memory programming model that is more intuitive than the message passing paradigm. Other advantages include low hardware and maintenance costs. This paper introduces a new simulation environment for such architectures. The developed tool is an execution-driven simulator aimed at studying the behavior of memory consistency models, with the exception of those needing compiler modifications. Thus, we propose a cheap and flexible way to design efficient consistency approaches for SVM systems. |
