We present in this article a summary of the main research results in the last years in the area of Web Information Retrieval produced by two Brazilian groups, from the Federal University of Amazon as and the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The two groups have worked in several common research projects in the last five years. The research results described here are concentrated in three main topics related to web research: information retrieval models for web search, efficiency issues in web search, and noise removal.
